Note the irregular baseline and rhythm. The abscence of P waves in this ECG confirms the diagnosis of atrial fibrillation. Considering the patients risk of subsequent embolic events it is important to consider either rate or rhythm control depending on the circumstances. It may be necessary to warfarinise the patient, but once again this is dependent on the individual circumstances. -
