What is Meducation?

Meducation is the medical education community, which enables doctors and student doctors to meet and share material online.

The vision of meducation is to create a medical community that works together to encourage and support each other in the process of learning medicine.

A little more than a website?

The aim of meducation is to build a medical education community, the outlay is one that enables doctors and student doctors to meet and share educational material online, but actually it aims to be more than that!

The reason this was set up is to try and unite the medical community a little more. It seems to me that there is an air of discontent in the medical profession with medical students washing in and washing out of their clinics never to be seen again. To add to this medical students frustration of trying to get a good tutorial at the expense of waiting around for hours/days before some one enlightens them. One may feel that there could be a little bit more sense of community and support for both parties just trying to do their best for what they love.

Meducation needs people to move it forward. People who want to bring the community together and who are interested in the people and supporting what they need. Meducation has been set up to rapidly adapt and develop with whatever the community needs.

The most important aspect to meducation is that is is set up to listen and adapt to what best supports community and communities using the site. A community can always achieve more together than one can achieve alone. Meducation is keen to help and support even less privileged communities, and help those in less developed countries to feel supported and encouraged and to continue to develop.

Each member of the medical education network is given their own profile where they can upload files and share with the communities around them. They are also given their own web address to enable them to direct colleagues and students to their profile.

Uploading files

Members can upload audio podcasts, videos, and even Powerpoint presentations with animations and dictation that will be converted by meducation so that other users can view them effortlessly online.

News feed

One of the exciting additions is the members’ personalised news feed. Members are automatically updated of any relevant news from all their groups, colleagues and friends around them making it easier for doctors and students alike to keep up to date with all the things that interests them.

Groups

Any member can create groups and fully control who can view their content. This means that whether you want to have a group with just your friends or colleagues invited or open to the rest of the community, this facility is here for you.

Wards

For those studying a subject but don’t quite know what they are looking for, they can take a look round the wards. Wards consist of the most relevant and highest rated educational material, recently released news related to that subject and interesting community discussions.

Community notes

Based on the wiki style, this community textbook is created and maintained by its users. It is rapidly expanding and constantly adapting to changes in knowledge and is a useful source of notes on many subjects, these notes are easily printed so that they can be included in revision folders
